Osaka Tenmangu Shrine

The peaceful precincts of Osaka Tenmangu Shrine honor Sugawara no Michizane, a respected Heian period scholar, and politician, revered here as the deity of learning. Although founded in the mid-10th century, the shrine has been rebuilt several times, with the present main hall constructed after World War II.
